Pepperdine University Announces Amy Bronson as Founding Dean of the School of Physician Assistant Studies
MALIBU, California – Pepperdine University has appointed Dr. Amy Bronson to serve as the founding dean of the School of Physician Assistant Studies. As part of the growing College of Health Science, Dean Bronson will lead the development of a school dedicated to preparing skilled, compassionate, and service-minded physician assistants. Her appointment began on May 1, 2025.
“I'm thrilled to welcome the Founding Dean of the School of Physician Assistant Studies, Dr. Amy Bronson, to Pepperdine and the College of Health Science,“ said Dr. Michael Feltner, founding dean of the College of Health Science. “Dean Bronson brings a wealth of experience as a practicing physician assistant, faculty member, and leader. Equally important, Dean Bronson is a Christian who has a deep and abiding love of the Lord. Through her leadership, Dean Bronson will infuse Pepperdine Mission and Christian values in every component of the School of Physician Assistant Studies.”
Before joining Pepperdine, Dr. Bronson served as dean of the Texas Master of Physician Assistant Program at West Coast University. She previously held leadership roles at Colorado Mesa University as the founding program director of the Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program and assistant vice president for Research and Innovation. She holds a doctorate in educational leadership, a master of medical science with physician assistant certification, and a bachelor’s degree in speech, language, and hearing sciences. She also holds advanced certification in artificial intelligence in medicine from the American Board of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine.

Dr. Bronson brings more than 15 years of clinical experience as a PA, specializing in otolaryngology and plastic and reconstructive surgery. She has also served as principal investigator on federally funded research projects totaling more than $2.5 million, with scholarship spanning rural healthcare access, diagnostic methodologies, mentorship, pedagogy, viral genomic sequencing, and altruistic testing.
In addition to her clinical and academic work, Dr. Bronson has held leadership roles with the American Academy of Physician Assistants Team Initiative and Healthier Colorado. She also served as President of the Colorado Academy of Physician Assistants.
